Fellow taonanites! :D
School's finally over, but for the p6s, it's gonna be sad. They graduated last Friday and sang the school song for the last time in Mandarin. :( They've left their primary school, which is actually the school where they'll study in for the longest period of time. And they'll be collecting their PSLE results on the 22nd of nov, which is this coming Thursday. So people, pray hard that they'll achieve good grades! :) Hopefully the top in our school will achieve even better results than what was attained last year.

For the p5s, they're going to be the oldest of the lot next year! P5s, do work doubly hard so as to score well and do the school proud for PSLE next year. Your hard work and effort will most definitely be paid off when you see the excellent results on your report card. I'm sure the p6s this year will see this happen soon, when they receive their results on Thursday. But p6s, don't stress out now!

Do rest and relax well in this holidays! (: It's going to be a long one. But also at the same time, prepare for your next year. Also, let's bid farewell to the p6s as they climb on to the next point of their life journey.

Hm, the p6s have survived their psle! Now its time for the rest of the school to take the endofyears. Best best best of luck ppl, shine like stars above in your upcoming exams. Its really worth it to mug now and see the results at the end of the exams. You'll feel extremely satisfied. So, work hard and i assure you that your efforts will NOT be in vain. (: As for the p6s, its time to lie back and relax! Your results for psle will be the fruits of the 6 long years you've spent in taonan. Hopefully you guys have done to the best of your ability in the exam. But, even if you felt that you could have done better, there's no use crying over spilt milk! Just get on with life, yeah? [:

Hi everyone, im back.
Have been studying.. ): Hope everyone is starting their revision for the End of years, especially the p6s.

The runners of Tao Nan have once again done us proud in the Nationals. People, be proud of them!

The first day of preliminary exam for the P6s is oral, on 28 July. Do work hard, fellow P6s.

The sailing team have also done us proud by winning trophies in the recent regatta. Most of the sailors won golds and also silvers.

The year has been passing by really quickly, and soon before you realise, it'll be another new year. So, those who haven't been cherishing your time with all your peers, do cherish the lovely times with them. And also, not to forget, do not let your hatred grow for your teachers for they were the ones who brought you this far. Be grateful that you have a teacher like that. Alright? There were some seniors who came back on thursday to give a talk on PSLE. To all p6s, they scored really high in PSLE, so, do learn from them!

Hi people! Pardon me for not posting for so long! I've been studying for the coming exams. Yup, and that explains why i havent been posting.

Here are the upcoming/past events:

- The SHHK sports meet :
The track team has done us proud by clinching second for the overall results - one mark away from nan chiau! And first in teacher's race! Round of applause, please. :D

- Inter-school badminton :
For the very first time, all four divisions got into the finals and the badminton team came in first overall! They have also done us proud!

- SA1 Examinations :
The SA1 examinations are a few days away. Hope all of you have been studying real hard. Th p6s, work hard towards your goal! The same goes to the rest of you. Jiayou, tao nan!

Hi everyone! Here are some of the latest happenings. Enjoy reading!

1) SparkC camp for the p5s:
==> The p5s will be going for SparkC camp pretty soon. Well, actually some of them had already gone for it. They will probably be staying there for 3days and 2nights and there'll be many challenges for them. Some of them are abseiling, CRC and flying fox. It'll be so much fun!

2) National Inter-Primary School Wushu Championships:
==> The National Inter-Primary School Wushu Championships will be held on 26 - 30 March. The Tao Nan wushu team will also be participating in this upcoming event. Let us all wish them luck!

3) SA1 examinations:
==>The SA1 examinations are drawing near! Have you all started studying? I hope so. And there'll be a suspension of supplementary lessons during that period of time. Here's to wish everyone good luck for their examinations!

Hello again! Yes, it's me again.But for the last time. I won't be posting again at this blog. I'm an ex-taonanite now and have no information about whats on in Tao Nan..but I've found someone to help us to maintain and update the blog.So from the next post onwards it will be by the new Tao Nanite.I will be checking on the blog regularly and tagging.Farewell! =)

Greetings to all!

The PSLE results have been released and our school has done very well this year! The highest score in our school was 276 ( 2 students from the GEP got it). Also , there was 100% overall passes in Tao Nan!! This year's results improved from last year's ( no offence to anyone) and the teachers and principal are very delighted. The highest score in Singapore was 281, deproved from last year's 285. Congratulations to the 2 GEP students who scored 276, but it was a pity..they were just 5 marks away from the top score! Nevertheless,all P6s did exceptionally well this year.We wish you good luck in your future endeavours!=)

Oh yes, how was the Carnival of the Century? The rides weren't as fun and exciting as we all expected( except for the Super Top Dancer ride in the carpark). There was a good variety of entertainment activities, like the stalls along the carpark and assembly area, dunking in the parade square, XBox games in the Maths room....the food and drinks were smartly positioned all around the grounds. Overall, I would give it a rate of 4 stars. =D

Hello again fellow Taonanites and Ex-Taonanites!
Sorry for not updating this blog for a long time.I've been busy with the upcoming exams.
Anyway,here are just some important events in school.

1) Time Capsule
==> In conjunction with the Carnival of the Century, Tao Nan is going to have a Time Capsule, which will contain 100 items in it, and it will be placed in the History Gallery ( located at Block B, near the Counselling room and MRL) This chest will be a semi- vacuum I think, which means most air will be removed from the chest to prevent the items within from decomposing. This chest will then be opened 20 years later, which is in 2026.We will most probably be informed of when to go back to school to witness the opening of the Time Capsule.
All classes have been given a construction paper, on which each class will come up with something to do on it.You are allowed to use both sides. It can be photos of every individual or art pieces etc. If you want to submit something that brings back memories of Tao Nan to be put in the Time Capsule, you can look for Ms Delisa Ng.Then the memories will be sealed within the Time Capsule and opened 20 years later.

==> Sales of coupons are closed. Please purchase them at $10 each on the day itself. The Carnival of the Century will be held on 4th November 2006 , 4 days before the actual day of Tao Nan's 100th Birthday, from 9 am - 5 pm. Please refer to my previous post below. Thanks. TNS CARNIVAL OF THE CENTURY!!!

HELLO ALL EX TAONANITES AND TAONANITES!

Good news! There will be a "Carnival of the Century" held at Tao Nan School on 4th November 2006, which is a Saturday,from 9am - 5pm.

Yes,its a carnival,not an exhibition on " How to achieve high scores in examinations". Its a BIGBIG carnival too. The guests of honour are President S R Nathan and First Lady Mrs Nathan.

They're bringing in many different rides,though i wonder how they squeeze everything into Tao Nan,judging by the fact that the place is not that big.As such are the Viking, Kiddy rides etc.No,no roller coaster.Tao Nan's not as big as Escape Theme Park.They're also bringing in stuff like Bouncing Castles ( those filled with air) merry-go- round.

Those are for us.Below are for the PARENTS! Theres going to be many stalls for shopping,manicure, movies from Raintree Productions and even stuff like Osim massage chairs.There are many many more.

Tickets are on sale now at $ 10 each. Current students of Tao Nan School are entitled to buy/sell 3 tickets each.Buying means buying the ticket for your family and yourself.Selling means bringing the ticket home,and selling it to your uncles,aunts,cousins or any other relatives.Then collect the money from them and hand in to your form teacher.

To all Ex Tao Nanites who wish to attend this,which i think you are all more than ready to go,you can purchase a ticket from any student of TNS , or you can purchase a ticket from the General Office, or you can purchase on Pesta Sukan ( the day itself) ,or if not,on the day of the carnival itself.

HALO EVERYBODY!!! Hmm,long time no post.yep.okay anyway,heres an announcement from Ms Delisa Ng, in asknlearn.

Dear Pupils,

Please participate in the Racial Harmony online game contest for primary schools. It is available from 10 July 2006 to 31 August 2006. The games will test knowledge on the cultures and practices of the various races in Singapore.

The top 20 scorers will receive a book voucher as a prize and have his/her name put in the Hall of Fame on the website. Winners will be notified by mail sent to the school. Next,for P6s.We have 18 days left to our very first PSLE Oral day.exactly 18.thats abt 2 and a half weeks.Following the PSLE oral will be our prelim written papers,the of course lastly,PSLE.The last PSLE written paper is on the 10th October 2006, the 14th and 15th is the weekend and from the 16th to the 19th is the PSLE marking days, where ALL PUPILS in Singapore are not required to go to school.SCHOOL HOLS!!!!!!!!20th is a Friday,and all pupils of Tao Nan School has to attend school on that day.

For the rest of the school,I believe your examinations are also around the corner.Please study hard,after the exams,PLAY HARD!

HELLO! hahas. it has been a LOOOOONG time since either of us has posted. so here come ex-taonanite to save the day!

alright. lame. anyways. i've got something to announce! hahas. so listen up.

from 18may 2006 to 17 may 2007, our school will be a member of the National Heritage Board. this membership allows you to gain free acces to the musuems when you produce your ez-link card upon purchase of tickets.

the following are the musuems under the NHB.

1) National Musuem of Singapore - formerly known as Singapore History Musuem which will reopen in Dec 2006.

2) Asian Civilisations Musuem - Armenian Street and Empress Palace [ you should know, Armenian Street was where Tao Nan was before they moved to this current campus! hahas. the more you should go! ]

3) Singapore Art Musuem.

well. i myself have been to the Art Musuem. all i have to say is FUN and INTERESTING!

hahas. thats the truth okay. you can see from different angles how of artists impressions =) its cool. hahas. do go down and take a look.

Car Rally and Malay Conversation Course( only for P6s)

Halo again guys! 3 announcements today!

1. There is a car rally hosted by the Marlin Sea Scouts for all pupils of Tao Nan School and their families.It is a family bonding session for all. I'm sure you have received the notice,but just in case you have lost it,here are the details.

Date : 27 August 2006 ( Sunday)
Time: 9am-5pm
Venue: Kallang Mcdonald's Carpark (Flag off)
Cost : $100/- per car (max. of 2 adults and 2 kids)
( $10 for every additional child participant)

Refreshment will be served at the end of the rally,but you must navigate your way there first!

Registration closing date is : 7 July 2006

2. On 7-8 July, there will be an ExCEL Festival hosted by the MOE for all MOE staff and the public to share and learn about how innovative teaching practices in schools are enhancing the students' education.The activities on the 7th will cater to MOE staff and the activites on the 8th will be opened to parents and members of the public.

Schools will be closed from 12 noon on 7 July (Friday) to allow all teachers to participate in the ExCEL Fest.

School hours on that day are as follows :
AM SESSION ( P2, P4 , P5 and P6) : 7.3o am to 9.30 am (reporting time 7.15am)
PM SESSION ( P1 and P3) : 10 am to 12 pm (reporting time : 9.45am)

Please make the necessary transport arrangement. The school bus drivers have been informed of the school hours on that day.

3. This is for ALL Primary Sixes of Tao Nan School only.I believe you have already received the notice about a Simple Malay Conversation Course for P6 pupils by the Tao Nan Alumni Association and Central Council Of Malay Cultural Organisations Singapore. Below are the details:

Total Sessions : 8 sessions + 1 Final Test / Evaluation (Oral Test) session
Duration of each Session : 1.5 hours
First part (30 minutes) : Explanation of meaning and pronunciation
Second part ( 1 hour) : Simple conversation (speaking) / partner or group

Halo Tao Nanites and Ex-Tao Nanites! I have 2 announcements today.

1) This coming Sunday is Youth Day, 2 July 2006, so the next day, Monday , 3 July is a school holiday.

2) Mdm Neo , the PE HOD is also the captain for the National Dragonboat Team. shocked? Anyway she is having a Dragonboat competition this Saturday and Sunday, 1 and 2 July 2006. If you wish to come, please go to the Bedok Reservoir at 1 pm on both days. They are representing Team Katong. If Team Katong gets into the finals, please come on Sunday too to cheer for them. She will definitely be competing on Saturday,rest assured. This is real and not a made up story. Please come on these 2 days if you are free.Thanks!
